CEO 2019 Results

The first North American DOA6WC qualifier has finally taken place and has concluded. This event was a Fatal Match Qualifier and took place at CEO in Daytona Beach, FL on June 28th-30th. This event was highly anticipated since it was the first North American Qualifier and several top players from around the region were expected to be there. To add to the competition, Japanese players COMP|Siologica and COMP|TeruRock also attended the event after winning 1st and 2nd respectively in the previous Asia Qualifier at Taipei Major.

At this qualifier, there was some notable names from the region that finally came out to compete again. Joshua “Memphis Legends” Burchett is one of those players that came out and had an amazing set against 2nd place winner Mark “Hoodless” Macklin during pool play on stream. Another known player that had a great match was Joey “Zakkurye” Knight against finalist COMP|Siologica. That match was incredibly close with Zakkurye almost sending Siologica into the loser bracket but fell short at the end.

This event was littered with intense matches in every part of the bracket with the Top 8 having some of the best of the event. Xavier “BlackmoonrisingX” Alvarez eliminated long time veteran Erik “FSD|Rikuto” Argetsinger even after many character changes. Reginald “ElectrifiedMann” Wysinger, although out of the tournament scene for some time, eliminated Kristian “Kwiggle” Mclean right after Kwiggle finished eliminating the Japanese players from the tournament. Impressive matches were constantly on display at CEO but in the end, it came down to two fighters. Mark “Hoodless” Macklin and Ryane “XCaliburBladeZ” Jimenez who met in the Winners Finals and once again in the Grand Finals. XCaliburBladeZ had a specific character ready for Hoodless because he knew Hoodless was there to win it all. After some of the initial matches of the grand finals, it became clear that Hoodless did not have a clear answer for XCaliburBladeZ strategy. Even after a great tournament performance from Hoodless, XCaliburBladeZ becomes the champion of the first North American DOA6WC Fatal Match Qualifier at CEO and has instantly qualified for a spot in the finals in Tokyo, Japan on November 23rd 2019
