INTRODUCTION
The year is Genna 8 (1622).
Edo Castle stands on the brink of the protagonist Tokugawa Takechiyo's imminent appointment as the next shogun.
Takechiyo's younger brother, Tokugawa Kunimatsu, consumed by hatred toward his brother's succession, falls into darkness.
Empowered by a sinister force, he leads a horde of yokai in a fierce assault against Takechiyo.
The era of peace suddenly turns into hell, and in dire straits, Takechiyo transcends time through the mysterious power of his guardian spirit, Kusanagi.

The grandson of Tokugawa Ieyasu, who founded the Edo Shogunate.
As the heir apparent, he was given the childhood name Takechiyo, the same as Ieyasu. However, from a young age, he could see guardian spirits and spent his time drawing them, leading many within the household to believe that his talented younger brother, Kunimatsu, would become the next shogun.
At one point, Ieyasu, who had become the Ōgosho clarified the order of seniority and declared that Takechiyo was the rightful successor.
